Well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well. As you may have noticed, things have been a bit quiet over here. Sorry about that, we understand that you rely on us, and like so many deadbeat dads and crack-addicted mothers in this world, we have let you down.

Half a Giraffe

BUT FEAR NOT! Like a small number of Dr. Emmet Browns of this world, we are working on something pretty awesome! Naturally we can’t talk about it, because we have to invent the thing first before we can invent a vocabulary to describe it, but it suffices to say that it will blow your effing socks off.

While we’re inventing the most brilliant thing since the wheel (Codename: WHEEL 2.0), we’ll be leaving this site fallow for a little while, just updating it now and again with news or the occasional B-Side or post, so please don’t be afraid to check back, or subscribe to our RSS feed. If you’d like to be made aware when we go back online and have news of our big thingy, please enter your email address at the bottom of the page.

We *promise* not to send your deets anywhere. Seriously. Won’t happen. We also won’t be hassling you with emails, and will delete them when we’ve done our mailout.

Say WHAT!? That’s right folks, Half a Giraffe screened Tough Love at the Capital Irish Film Festival! That’s another feather in our cap. Or it would be if we had a cap. These film festivals just send you the feathers but not the caps, they assume you already have them, which is reasonable but inconvenient.

Half A Giraffe @ Galway Film Fleadh 2011

Hello all our little HaG-lings, we have some good news for you.

We will be attending the Galway Film Fleadh this year in order to partake in and enjoy all of  the local alcohol festivities and alcohol cultural highlights and alcohol alcohol.

But on top of this, we are delighted to announce that two of our shorts will be screened as part of the festival! If you would like to see our stuff up on a big-ass screen, details are as follows:

“Tough Love” – Programme 3 – Friday 8th July @ 10a.m.

“Exit Poll” – Programme 5 – Saturday 9th July @10a.m.

Half A Giraffe at JDIFF 2011

Following on from last years great successes at Galway and Cork, we’ll soon be hitting up the Jameson Dublin Film Festival.

We’ll be attending the Festival Launch in TriPod on Tuesday the 25th of January, and can be found at pretty much any of the events throughout the festival from the 17th to the 27th of February.

Please do not hesitate to approach us (with arms up, palms out, to show you’re not in an aggressive position) so we can banter and chat and discuss things at length.

And as much as we’d like to say that the festival is the perfect melting pot of culture, film, intelligence and class in which people can meet others in the industry, swarm up to important people and generally get your schmooze on, we all know this festival exists for one reason, and one reason alone…

Have a gone one!

Question 1

Maria: How come you can’t afford a whole giraffe?

Giraffe: Turns out it’s cheaper to kill, dismember and buy a giraffe by the kilo than to simply pay him to turn up. Giraffe’s are notoriously unionised.

Question 2

Diane: Dear half a giraffe. Do giraffes have adams apples?  Thank you kindly.

Giraffe: We do, but they’re in our knees. The giraffe’s vocal system is extremely complicated.

The March Goes On

The observant among you will have noticed that we now have ads running on our site and a donate button. We are still in the process of developing the project without financial backing, so please bear with us during this early stage.

The donate button is there in case you are suddenly seized by a desperate fit of generosity and decide to give us anything from a handful of coppers (in electronic form) to a hundred quid towards the production costs of our next sketch. We will not be able to reimburse you, but can guarantee a Co-Producer credit for your kind assistance, not to mention our best efforts at a sketch that will make you wet yourself laughing.
